a baby bichon?
so we really are thinking of getting a bichon frise. they are a bit more allergy friendly than other breeds. they are small enough to live in an apartment, but they aren’t as prone to being yappy as terriers and other small breeds. they are supposed to get along very well with all ages; kids through to the elderly. i’m sure she’ll get lots of socializing with the retirement home across the courtyard from our apartment in seattle. we’ve looked into adopting a rescued dog, but i think that’s something we’ll do at another point in our lives. i’ve contacted a few of the breeders that are involved with the bichon frise club of america, and one of them has already gotten back to me and said she’s going to have some puppies born in july and available in september or october. she does have a list of families who want one, but she said it usually falls through with some of them.
so we’re going to keep looking into it, and hopefully bring home a little pile of white fluff at some point this next year. we’re going to try to get one through a breeder who specifically breeds for good temperament and health, rather than a “backyard breeder.” does anyone who reads this know any bichons? i’ve only met one and it was the most happy, well behaved dog i’ve ever met, but neither dan nor i have ever spent a lot of time with one. any tips or advice?
